Lauri Tamm, Anna Otsolainen, Silver Rannak

Tell us about your team; who are you and where do you come from?

All members of team Estonia have the same background – we all have begun studying in the same department of sculpture in the local Estonian art college in Tartu. The only difference is that Lauri has finished this college and also worked there as a teacher. Silver finished same college and now is studying 3D modelling and works as a hobby group teacher. Anna has studied in Tartu, but after 2 years transferred to art academy of Latvia.

Team History

How long have you worked together? What are your team’s greatest achievements?

This team will sculpt together for the first time. Lauri and Anna have been carving together on different snow symposiums before and team members change according to their chance to participate for certain competitions.
Everyone of us has made many solo projects and has participated in different sculpting events and workshops in Estonia and abroad as well.
The most “international guy“ of us is Lauri, who has participated in more than 10 different top level snow and ice carving symposiums worldwide and has achieved two times the bronze medal in Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture  Championships and once the second prize in the International Ice Sculpture Festival in Latvia.
In 2018 Team Estonia got the 3rd Jury Prize in the first Baltic Snow Call contest in Oulu.

About Snow Sculpting

How did you end up carving snow and what is best in snow sculpting?

Lauri introduced us snowcarving, as he was travelling to symposiums almost every year. Best part of snow sculpting is the chance to create something big, but temporary. The beauty in whole process is to create and also let go of other thoughts, as you can completely concentrate on piece.
Besides of making sculpture, snowcarving gives a intensive possibility to practice a team work. If you have a good team – this time will be a wonderful experience. Additionally it is great to meet new people and exchange experience in same field of work.

Baltic Snow Call!?

What do you expect from Baltic Snow Call?

We expect to enjoy the whole event as it happens in wonderful city of Oulu. We appreciate good competition and a chance to learn from other as well as meet new people.
